Fw: Searchlight Tea Party & Harry Reid Protest

The following is from an email I received today:

Good Morning:

Every day when I get up, my first thoughts are how blessed I am for the friends and the opportunities that come my way. I would like to share with you an opportunity that I just had with the Tea Party Express and to invite you to a Harry Reid Protest.

Several months ago Tiffany Ruegner contacted me asking for assistance with the Tea Party which was to be held in Searchlight, NV on March 27, 2010. It was my pleasure to assist them as much as I could. As time went on I found myself right in the middle of coordinating the event from this end.

After speaking with several property owners who felt that it was rude for the Tea Party to come to Searchlight, I contacted T. D. Barnes. I had never met the gentleman before, but I found him to be a generous man who agreed to allow the event to take place on this 160 acres, just north of Searchlight. Scott Jones, the owner of Vista Landscaping is running a sand & gravel pit on this property and he was also very willing to assist in any way with preparation of the event.

I had only attended one other Tea Party before, which was in Searchlight on September 26, 2009. Dennis Schilling from the Lake Havasu City Republican Men’s Club had contacted me to locate a property to hold the rally. This rally was held at the Searchlight Community Center, where approximately 500 people attended. The participants were very respectful. You could tell that they were proud to stand up for their beliefs and did not incite any violence. All the participants made sure the property was clean before leaving. Later that day, I received a phone call from an employee of the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department complaining about the signs that were left on the property, only to find that they were the Harry Reid signs. I told them that Dennis had cleaned the property and had not been involved with anything regarding Harry Reid and they should call Harry Reid to have his people remove his signs. I took that as an insult that his signs were left to blow in the wind showing no respect for our community.

With the Tea Party of March 27th coming closer I had people from all over the country contacting me wanting information, so they could attend. I knew there would be a large crowd, but I am still amazed at the number of Patriotic Americans who chose to attend this event. I have never met such a large group of people who were so well mannered and proud to be an American. It gave me hope that we CAN make a difference.

I have heard on the mainstream media how the Tea Party Americans cause ruckus and incite violence, but that is not the case at all. I never heard any bad language, nor were there any signs of violence anytime during the event. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not have to respond to any calls during our event. I am also extremely proud that everyone left the property extremely clean. I want to thank everyone for their assistance and the Tea Party Americans for attending.

When I returned home I learned of a Harry Reid Rally held next door to the Searchlight Nugget Casino. I am extremely upset to learn that the people who attended this rally threw eggs at the passersby, the Tea Party Express Bus.

They stopped traffic, Metro was called to disperse the crowd and they also defaced a billboard in the center of town.

This is what I call RUDE and an insult to my community. I have also just learned that once again Harry Reid signs were left alongside the road to blow in the wind. While browsing the Internet I found the following posting on Facebook, which was written by the Searchlight Nugget Casino’s granddaughter. I find nothing humorous about throwing eggs at personal property.

it was too crazy!! i thought it was humorous when union workers threw raw eggs at Sarah Palins bus!
Sat at 1:24pm

I would like to invite you to join me and my friends to a Protest against Harry Reid on Monday, April 5th at 8:30 AM. The Searchlight Nugget Casino is having a rally to jump start his bus tour. I would like to see everyone stand tall, walk on the sidewalk, cause no disturbance and carry their signs. I believe it is important that we show the Harry Reid supporters that we are Patriotic Americans who are respectful and will stand tall in our beliefs. The Tea Party Americans do not incite violence as the media portrays. As Sarah Palin stated on Saturday, “We are smart enough to make our own decisions. The Tea Party Americans are expanding freedom and opportunities, not the overreaching of our government. The government needs to listen and not lecture us. There are no easy answers, we just need to have the courage to do what is morally right..”

I am extremely proud of what I accomplished and learned in these last few months. I want to thank everyone who helped me with this fabulous opportunity and to thank the American people who stood up.

Sincerely,
Diane Kendall
