There Is No Power but of God

Romans 13:1-5
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

I have thought a lot about this passage, especially since Obama came into office. It finally occurred to me that when America was founded, it was unlike any other nation that had ever existed. Our government wasn't set up to be a ruler over the people, but the people ruling and choosing representatives from among themselves to take care of the business of the country for a short time, then choosing someone else to take a turn. It is the few who have taken their elected positions of servitude to their country and tried to usurp their will and claim authority over the people who are resisting the power and resisting the ordinance of God, and ultimately "shall receive to themselves damnation."
In light of this I have come to the conclusion that Obama and company are not the problem with America. They are just symptoms. The real problem with America is that We the People have become too comfortable and have lost sight of just how precious our freedom is, and how good we have it compared to the rest of the world. We have also lost sight of the values our founders relied upon when they formed this nation. We have become lazy and have conned ourselves into believing that we deserve only the best. We have become a nation where the majority is either too apathetic to bother to vote for who will best represent them, or only votes for whoever offers them the most "free" stuff without regard to the fact that someone else down the line has to pay for it. We have become a country where the rulers have forgotten who they are and  allowed to servants to do as they please. It's time for We the People to wake up and reclaim our rightful place of authority in America.

Proverbs 29:12
If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
Ecclesiastes 10:5-7
5  There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:
6  Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.
7  I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
